Data usage is calculated in megabytes (MB) per 24-hour cycle, converted to gigabytes using binary 1,024 MB = 1 GB standard.
Why 10% Headroom Buffer?

1. Binary (1,024 MB = 1 GB) vs Decimal Units
In computing and mobile telecommunications, network traffic measurements can be defined using binary prefixes (IEC standard: 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB) or decimal metric prefixes (SI standard: 1 GB = 1,000 MB).
Operating systems (such as Android and iOS) and cellular carrier billing engines meter data packet headers, TCP retransmissions, and byte counters using binary increments. Data Usage uses the standard 1,024 MB = 1 GB conversion so that your estimates match what your carrier actually bills on your invoice.

Laboratory data rate benchmarks measure steady-state video and audio playback. However, real-world internet usage invariably involves bursts and background consumption:
